Facebook Inc will allow employees to work from home until July 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and will give them $1,000 for home office needs. With this, the company joins other big technology firms that has taken similar steps recently. While Google allowed employees to work from home until the end of June 2021, Twitter proposed remote work indefinitely for some of its employees.
The United States announced a five-pronged ‘Clean Network’ initiative to further reduce Chinese access to Americans’ data. It is an expanded version of the ‘Clean Path’ initiative. It would involve removing “untrusted” Chinese apps like TikTok and WeChat from American stores. The programme has 5 facets – Clean Carrier, Clean Apps, Clean Store, Clean Cloud and Clean Cable.
The last fully intact ice shelf, called Milne Ice Shelf, in the Canadian Arctic has collapsed, losing more than 40% of its area in just 2 days by the end of July. This ice shelf is at the fringe of Ellesmere Island, in the northern Canadian territory of Nunavut. The cause of this is the above normal temperatures, offshore winds and open water in front of the ice shelf.
