Personal Data Protection Bill, 2019
The Personal Data Protection Bill, 2019, tabled in Parliament on December 2019, is being analysed by Joint Parliamentary Committee. It provides for mechanisms for personal data protection. Its final draft is likely to include 89 amendments, one new clause and two new amendments. The 30-member parliamentary committee concluded clause-by-clause discussions and is in the final stages of preparing the legislation. The Bill will probably be tabled in the upcoming Budget Session of Parliament, which will commence on January 29.
