Tinaighat-Castlerock-Caranzol railway doubling project

Tinaighat-Castlerock-Caranzol railway doubling project received approval from National Board for Wildlife (NBWL) despite massive protests in Goa against the same. Environmental activists protested against this project as it threatened forests and habitats in Western Ghats. According to the site inspection report by forest department, this project would involve loss of more than 5,000 trees in Kali Tiger Reserve alone. The project was proposed to ease coal transportation and accommodate tourism growth.
