IPL 2020 will be played from 19th September till 10th November this year. This decision was made at a virtual meeting of the IPL Governing Council. The meeting was organised to give an final shape to the schedule and discuss other arrangement for the event, which would be held in the United Arab Emirates this year. The 53-day tournament would be held in the Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.
The Indian cricket board – Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) – will seek the government’s permission to stage this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This was announced by the IPL Chief Brijesh Patel. Cricket boards of UAE and Sri Lanka have offered to host the IPL considering the pandemic situation in India.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has launched the ODI Super League, a qualifier for the 2023 World Cup in India that aims to add the context to the 50-over format. The competition begins with a series between world champions England and Ireland on July 30. The league will bring relevance and context to ODI cricket for next 3 years.
